We are so proud and humbled to be celebrating 10 years in business!  When you do what you love it doesn’t seem like work.  I (Meagan) sat down with Tim and Suzanne to chat about this milestone.  Read further to find out more about these two talented people who started a company in a recession.  Yes, you read that correctly, a recession!

Many of our clients and friends know you both as co-owners as Novare.  You had careers prior to this, what is it that you did?

Tim:  “I started Zilles Construction Inc. in 1997 and became a licensed general contractor in 1999.  Primarily I did finish carpentry which is how I met Suzanne.  Suzanne:  “I was working at Accent Design Studio where I started out as a cabinetry designer and production liaison.  During my time there, we expanded in to more of a design build renovation firm.  We had the design part of the business covered, but now we needed the build aspect.  Enter in Tim Zilles, contractor.”

What made you go into business together, especially when the economy was in the midst of a recession?

Tim says “I thought by putting our mutual talents together under one roof would be more successful than to continue separately.  There is strength in common goals.”  Suzanne seconded this and said “We saw great opportunity with changes in the remodeling industry and thought that by combining our skills and work ethic that we could be successful.”

What is your favorite part of your job?

Suzanne:  “I love exercising my creativity; every day is different and every client is different.  It may sound cliche, but this really doesn’t feel like a job; how lucky am I to be able to help homeowners create a space that they feel comfortable in and want to come home to everyday.”  Tim loves to “watch clients as we get near completion and they can see the entire project come in to focus.”

What is one thing a client would be surprised to know about you?

In Suzanne’s free time, she “likes to go 4-wheeling in different parts of the state.  It’s been a good ride when you come back covered in mud!”

Tim:  “I made a career change at the age of 40 after being in the printing and envelope industry.  I still continue to play in a hockey league and will do so until my body has had enough!

We are all so grateful to our clients for trusting us in your homes and allowing us to do what we love.  We are looking forward to the next 10 years!
