These homeowners contacted Novare because they were frustrated with their dated and nonfunctional main floor. They had a worn out 1990’s builder grade home that lacked storage and organization. We were confident that this home had enough space, it just needed to be repurposed to suit the needs of this family of 4 with two growing boys.
Woodbury Main Level Remodel Challenges: Our homeowners felt that their kitchen and dinette area were too small and congested. These rooms were at the center of the house causing all traffic to be filtered through this area. The half bath was directly off the kitchen and in the middle of the main floor. There were two formal living spaces; neither of which were being used for their intended purpose. The living room was being utilized as a toy room and the formal dining room was a dumping ground since the home lacked an entry space from the garage in to the house. Finally, the laundry room was simply too small to keep up with these active boys!
The Novare Woodbury Main Level Solution: We elongated the kitchen and dinette, moving the patio door to improve flow and reallocating adequate space for each function. By reshaping these areas, the homeowners now have a walk in closet off of the mud room and a spacious pantry off of the kitchen. The half bath was relocated behind the kitchen, creating a more open space in the center of the home. The formal living room was transformed into the family room. The dining room is now the laundry/mud room complete with a folding counter, built in ironing board, drying rack system and cubbies. This is the homeowner’s favorite room!

The Woodbury Main Level Results : We improved the overall flow of the main floor by eliminating two formal rooms and reclaiming that wasted space for everyday functional rooms. There is gorgeous built in cabinetry with customized storage including a built in shredder, recycling bin and device charging station. Thoughtful lighting like recessed cans, undercabinet lighting, hanging pendants and wall sconces brighten and warm this wide open main level. Luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout is beautiful and will stand the test of time. While all of the finishes are aesthetically pleasing, they are also extremely functional for this family of four. We created a main level that met and exceeded this family’s needs for years to come.
